Angela Dixon judges BBC Young Musician of the Year

The BBC’s long-awaited coverage of their Young Musician of the Year competition starts this week! BBC Four will be broadcasting highlights from the category finals every Sunday at 7pm for five weeks, starting with the Keyboard final this Sunday (3 May) at 7pm, or you can catch up on the whole performances on BBC iPlayer each week.You may recognise several familiar faces including Angela, our Chief Executive, who was the general judge for the competition and was therefore the only judge to sit on the panels for every category final, to Lewis Kentaro Isaacs, the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians student who you can watch perform as part of the percussion category final. You can also spot Saffron Hall favourite Jess Gillam who will be interviewing contestants and local musician and broadcaster Anna Lapwood who is presenting the highlights on BBC Four.
